Cantonese, spoken natively by most people in Hong Kong, Is very different from Mandarin Chinese or Putonghua. For starters, there are many more tones, and to explain them all right now would be a bit too much dragging, so instead its best to refer to this guide. Also note that Cantonese is written with Traditional Chinese characters as opposed to simplified ones, and that it also has diglossia via SWC (To put it simply: They write like Mandarin but read Cantonese, and although basic words are not affected, there are also characters limited to colloquial cantonese.)
